Cadet-officers in France

12-12-2013

Four of our cadet-officers took part in a practice abroad between 25th and 30th of November. The place they were visiting was French city of Aix-en-Provence. The participants of the practice: st. ogn. Łukasz Zubek, mł. ogn. Piotr Sitarczyk, st. sekc. Kamil Makowski and str. Robert Labudda had an opportunity to look into local methods of teaching, get to know equipment solutions as well as French firefighters' community.

The students went to Marseille, where there is ENSOSP nearby (a French school for fire officers), as well as two other fire academies. They were greeted with hospitality. Every day was different and precisely planned. Alongside with a translator, they visited the most essential parts of the school, for example a highly developed simulator devoted to wildfires, a small village made for firefighters' training, a short motorway for road accidents and modern sport facilities. The cadet-officers took part in many discussions, shared their views and acquired new knowledge, comparing it with already-known parts of fire craft.

The last but one day of the visit was the day of the patron of French firefighters -  Saint Barbara. On that day the cadet-officers also spent some time in a beautiful Aix-en-Provence. Despite a language barrier, the communication wasn't a problem at all. Great number of benefits from the practice is the reason why it has to be counted as a very successful one.
