Description of learning outcomes:

The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge of social sciences, psychology and sociology , in terms of individual and social mechanisms of understanding the needs and the concept of security. Identification psychological , and social sources of security threats.

Content:

- The need for security, her source, role and place in the system of human needs

- The basic workings of the group of small and large crowd. The influence of the group on the unit, and the impact of the individual on the group (group leadership)

- The models functioning of the human psyche - the cognitive and evolutionary approach. Consequences of the scarcity of human cognition. The methods of decision-making, distortion, and the role of emotions.

- Two systems that organize thinking and decision-making - "mind" and "heart". When people think rationally, and when they are ruled by emotions.

- Stress as an adaptive response to the threat. How does stress - physiological and psychological aspects. Types of stressors. The importance of perceived control and the mechanisms of its restoration.

- Psychological background of the dangers of life in the group: aggression and violence, prejudice and discrimination, etc.
